Heat pump condenser dryers dry at a lower temperature than standard condenser dryers. Heat pump dryers are therefore gentler on fabrics when drying and use much less energy during the drying process.

Because heat pump dryers dry at a lower temperature, they can take longer to finish the drying cycle than a condenser model without heat pump technology.

The best way to check the drying time is on the energy label.

Shown below are two energy labels. The condenser model has a B energy rating and a drying time of 154 minutes.

The heat pump model has an energy rating of A++ and a drying time of 177 minutes.

With heat pump dryers however, the energy savings are significant.

Looking at the two energy labels above, the condenser model has an annual energy consumption of 561 kWh/year and the heat pump model has an annual energy consumption of 177 kWh/year.

Because heat pump dryers run at a much lower temperature, they’re far gentler on your clothes. This helps your garments last longer and lets you tumble dry a wider range of fabrics with confidence.

When using a heat pump dryer, it’s best not to open the door during the drying cycle, as the heat pump dryer will then have to heat the air inside the dryer again, which will make the programme take longer.
